At the end of this activity, students should be able to: – explain how the absorption of light produces colour – explain the origin of the colours of the inorganic compounds of s, p and d–block metals, as well as of organic compounds – describe how absorption spectra are recorded – explain the concept of colorimetry – define and use the Beer–Lambert law.
