At the end of this activity, students should be able to describe the structure of the loop of Henle and its role in the concentration of urine, explain the principles of the counter-current multiplier system and counter-current exchange, explain the role of ADH and aldosterone in the regulation of the volume and solute concentration of body fluids, explain the role of the kidneys in the regulation of blood pH, describe the regulation of water balance in humans, and describe the composition of urine and the urination reflex.
