Brønsted–Lowry Theory of Acids and Bases

At the end of this activity, students should be able to define acids and bases in terms of the Bronsted–Lowry theory, identify pairs of conjugated acids–bases in aqueous and non–aqueous media, describe the autoionisation of water, define the ionic product of water Kw, distinguish among neutral, acidic and alkaline solutions and calculate concentrations of ions using the ionic product equation.
